Standards for CHECtravel Business Owner
Members
CHEC accepts member clubs which promote home exchange industry "best
practices”. To be considered for membership, clubs must
meet all of the required standards in addition to pledging
to adhere to the Business Owner's Charter, CHECtravel's Code
of Conduct for Home Exchange Clubs.
Required Standards:
- Contact information is posted on the clubs' web site. This
includes an email address or contact form, postal address
and phone number
- Club web site includes a privacy statement
- Payment is through a secure billing system
- Club has been in business for at least one year
- Club charges for membership, intends to charge after reaching
a membership goal or functions as a not-for-profit agency
- Listings are removed when membership expires and/or listings
are dated in some fashion (expiration date, membership date,
update by home-owner or preferred swap date)
- Club web site includes a section explaining what home exchange
is, how it works or FAQ
- Accessible and accurate membership numbers are listed on
the site
- Member club will post "CHEC: Certified Home Exchange
Club" logo on the home page
Recommended Best Practices:
All of the above, in addition to these:
- A map shows where each listing is located
- There is a feedback system for exchangers to comment
on their swap experience
- Listing pages allow exchangers to post at least three
photos of their home
